Stay Healthy and Fit in style

Never brag that you aren’t even sore after an especially intense workout. Somehow it makes it more miserable when you do get sore 24 hours later. (yes, this is from current personal experience)

I tend to just skip over those articles that give healthy alternatives to your favorite foods - you know the ones - “you could have one cookie, or 80 stalks of celery!”. Glamour.com has an excellent article that is actually informative - it even included McDonald’s food.
Some of them are even subtle changes that may not make a difference to you. For instance, it mentions that you could have a 6oz prime rib, or Six ounces of broiled tenderloin, a small baked potato with butter, a cup of broccoli, a dinner roll and a half-cup of fruit sorbet for the same calories - and likely be far more satiated. And that’s what I like about this article - it’s about how to satisfy yourself for the same calories as an item that you may feel is actually a better diet or health choice.
Read it at Glamour.com.

Stylechicks.com tipped us off to this luxurious cashmere track suit by Juicy Couture on sale at Nordstrom - when it’s as cold as it is outside, an incredibly soft and warm as this Juicy Couture Cashmere Track Pantsand Juicy Couture Empire Waist Cashmere Hoody
would actually get me to work out on a bitter day like this. And I love the color and the empire waist of the jacket.

Our friends at TeaChicks will appreciate this one - I try to add a couple of sets of something when I’m making tea - it’s amazing how much you can squeeze in during the time it takes you to boil and brew a nice cup of tea (which is very nice to sit down to once you have gotten a mini-workout!).
In the eight minutes or so I had waiting for my cup of tea on this cold winter day, I was able to knock out:
25 squats
25 plies
2 sets of 15: biceps curls (I grabbed two soda cans that were nearby - not exactly a heavy weight)
2 sets of 15: free weight flies (also with soda cans)
Not a full workout, but not bad for otherwise idle time. Try to find a few pockets of time like this during the day, and you’ll find at least a collective 20 minutes during the day to get in shape!

OldNavy.com is having their End of Season Sale
with upto 60% off. They have some great active wear - here’s a few things that are in my cart.
Women’s Seam-Front Shorts in Peat Moss: my yoga pants are a bit hot when I’m cycling lately - these are a perfect full coverage short. $8.99
Women’s French Terry Capris - Black: great for pilates. Th cuff is elastized, so they won’t get caught in a machine or ride up. $6.99
Women’s Active Shawl-Collar Cardigans: more stylish than a sweatshirt, and great for outdoor activities or to and from the gym. I think this would be great for a morning run since it’s made of French Terry, so it’s a nice transition from your bathrobe to exercise.
$9.99, also available in Navy and Leaf Green.

To burn some extra calories and work your lower body, march in place as you wash and dry your dishes. Instead of the standard thin mat under the sink, try a cushioned gel one like this Anti-fatigue Floor Mat in Royal Blue from Amazon or various styles at GelPro - gotta take care of your knees!
